IMHA FAQ’s for the 2020-21 Season

The IMHA Board of Directors is meeting on a regular basis to continue to work through all the moving parts to ensure that all players can return to hockey in safe manner following the guidelines from HC, OHF, OMHA/OWHA, Middlesex Centre and our local health unit. We appreciate your patience as we navigate our way through this season.

Here is what we know. Hockey will happen but in a modified format. Below is a list of FAQ’s that will be updated and placed on our website as we move through the various stages of this hockey season.

What will IMHA’s return to hockey look like in September?

The initial stages of the season will be focused on group training and development. IMHA’s current plan is for each group from Novice (U8) to Midget (U18) to have two on ice sessions per week. As tryouts are not currently permitted, players will be place into groups that focus on both individual and group development. There will more information to follow on the specifics of how each group will be formed.

Yes, if you have registered but have decided to not return to hockey, please let our registrar know.

If I withdraw my son/daughter from the first 8 weeks, will I be able to register in the future if the regulations change?

IMHA will communicate in future communications on how the association is planning to move forward.

Will players be place onto teams during the first 8 weeks?

IMHA is currently looking at how to move forward and more information will be forthcoming.

Masks are not required to be worn on the ice. Please ensure you are following the guidelines of the Municipality as to when a mask is required to be worn.

Can my child apply for a release from IMHA?

Players have the option of playing with the team they were rostered to during the 2019-2020 season or returning to their home association. There will be not any permission to skate forms issued at this time.

What is happening with coaching clinic’s for the 2020-21 season?

There are currently no in person coaching clinics scheduled for the 2020-21 season. Hockey Canada is working on a plan for training new coaches and more information will be released at a later date.
