IMHA UPDATE
Submitted By Mike Harding on Monday, August 31, 2020
We hope that this letter finds you in good health as we continue to navigate the challenging realities of life during the pandemic. As you may be aware, OHF has recently released updated information regarding their Return to Hockey Framework.

As you may be aware, OHF has recently released updated information regarding their Return to Hockey Framework. This new framework outlines the various stages that our association can follow as we work towards returning to the arena.

IMHA has been busy reviewing this framework, along with all the guidelines sent out by HC, OHF, OMHA/OWHA, Middlesex Centre and our local health unit. Although the game of hockey will look different when we return, we are happy to announce that we now have a tentative start date of September 27th, 2020.

Following the OHF Framework, IMHA will first be offering an 8-week program which will focus specifically on skill development and group training for our Novice to Midget programs. Each player will receive 2 ice times per week. More details about how players will be organized, as well as specific details regarding health and safety guidelines will be sent out shortly.

We will continually assess the situation to determine what opportunities can be offered to our players moving forward. Unfortunately, with the new guidelines IMHA has decided to delay the start of our IDP program with the hopes of getting those players on the ice as soon as possible.

Many IMHA players have already registered for the upcoming season. To confirm your registration for this new 8-week program, please make the $300 payment fee online through PlayPay by September 14th. The fees are to cover ice costs, but currently does not include a fundraising fee or gate fee. New registrations are also welcome.

We are excited to return to the arena and hope that all players will be able to join us in this new approach to the game of hockey.

Thank you again for your continued support, patience and understanding as we work towards providing a safe yet enjoyable return for all our players and families. Details and updates will be sent out via email whenever possible as well as posted on our website.

Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you soon.
