COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination Policies and Proof of Vaccination Expectations
Submitted By Todd Copeland on Tuesday, September 21, 2021
OMHA and the OWHA have announced a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy. These policies apply to all vaccine-eligible (those born before 2010) registered players, team officials and volunteers.   Proof of full vaccination (two doses plus 14 day waiting period) will be required by no later than October 17 2021 for OWHA and October 31 2021 for OMHA.

Further details will be communicated to members on how to document the vaccination status with the Ilderton Minor Hockey Association prior to these dates.   Please note that “no exemptions” exist under either policy and it is a condition for continued registration and participation.  Any request for accommodation outside this policy should be directed to the OMHA or OWHA.

Province of Ontario, Middlesex London Health Unit (MLHU) and the Municipality of Middlesex Centre have published their own set of rules that set expectations that apply to “everyone else” for indoor entry into recreational and event facilities.

Effective September 22 2021, as per Provincial Regulations, all patrons (inclusive of all vaccine-eligible spectators, not formally identified or recognized by the association as participating as a player, team official or other volunteer), wishing to enter a municipal owned facility will be expected to show proof of identification and proof of full vaccination before they may enter.

Confirming proof of vaccination prior to entry will require you produce a paper or downloaded copy of your full dose Vaccine Certificate(s) and proof of identity showing name and date of birth (e.g., Birth Certificate, Citizenship Card, Driver’s License, Government-Issued Identification Card, i.e., Health Card, Indian Status Card, Passport or Permanent Resident Card).

Full details in relation to how the “proof of vaccination” requirements will be implemented at all municipal owned facilities including the Ilderton Arena and the Komoka Wellness & Recreation Centre can be viewed here.

Everyone needs to appreciate that these expectations have not been established at the individual association or municipal level but are being implemented to protect the safety of all participants, volunteers and staff.    It is a further expectation that all members and players representing Ilderton Minor Hockey Association will respect expectations established by other associations and municipalities as well.

Current Expectations on A Local Level:

Everyone entering the arena must “self-screen” for COVID-19, sanitize their hands, wear a mask at all times and maintain a distance of 6ft from people outside of their household. Please stay home if you are not feeling well.

Players, Team Officials and Volunteers (complete health screening online before arrival)

Patrons/Spectators (complete the municipal QR-based health-screening at the door)

Ilderton Minor Hockey Association will eventually be adopting use of the SportsHeadz app for health screening of all players, team officials and volunteers once team rosters have been established.

Players, Team Officials and Volunteers may arrive up to 30 minutes prior to your scheduled ice time but are expected to exit facilities within 15 minutes of your scheduled ice time.   Please respect the capacity limits that are posted on the doors of assigned dressing rooms.   Showers remain unavailable.

Younger players should be encouraged to arrive at the arena fully dressed except for helmets and skates.  One caregiver per player may assist with skates and helmets in dressing rooms or at chairs located within the lobby of arena.

Everyone including patrons will enter the arena through the front entrance and exit through side doors as indicated on internal signage.  Masks must be worn at all times by everyone when not participating in on-ice activity.

Spectating of on-ice activities is only permitted physically distanced within the stands and not along the glass or within the lobby of arena.   Capacity of the stands will not become an issue if we respect the requirement to physically distance.

We appreciate your ongoing support and understanding!
