Hello and welcome to Year 1 of JETS hockey!
My name is Blake Pronk and I am one of the U5 coaches for the upcoming 2025/26 hockey season.
We are really excited about our U5 group this year and are extremely encouraged by RECORD-SETTING 30+ participants!
The U5 age group is definition of “it takes a village”; and there will be countless coaches (both formal and informal), parents, and others helping our young ones motor around the ice and develop a passion for the game of hockey.
Our U5 season will informally kick off in September with an optional “pre-season” skate at the newly (but still slightly incomplete) renovated Ilderton Arena, home of the Moirs and the Berks.
Our skates will all be posted to the U5 Team Page on the Jets Website under ‘Team Finder’ > ‘U5’:
1. Sunday September 14th:
a. 9-9:50am
Parents: Please be prepared to be ON the ice with your skater for this first pre-skate (with a helmet). It will be informal and primarily an opportunity for the skaters to get on the ice in a fun environment. We may even have K-Pop Demon Hunters on the speakers!
A fresh set of Timbits jerseys and hockey socks will be provided to each skater once coaches are assigned and the Season is officially underway in October. For the pre-skate, please equip your child in full equipment (helmet, neckguard, shin pads, elbow pads, pants, gloves).
Our regular season will begin on Saturday October 4th and our weekly ice schedule will be Saturday mornings. Please check the website for any date/time changes.
Please do NOT worry about the current stage of development for your child. We have the entire ice surface this year and will separate the skaters based on their current developmental level to maximize fun, confidence, and love for the game.
We will be circulating a separate email shortly to go over some of the details before the Season officially gets underway in October, but wanted to reach out beforehand to introduce ourselves and (importantly) encourage parent participation!
Please let me know if you are interested in helping with "coaching" (instructing, supporting, etc.) or being a "trainer" with this group. It's going to be a fun Winter!
If you have questions at all, please reach out to me anytime at this email – [email protected] or on my cell at 647-227-6791.
Go Jets Go!
Cheers,
Coach Blake
