International Silver Stick Champions!!
The Ilderton Jets U11B travelled to Forest, ON January 19-21, 2024 to compete in the U11B International Silver Stick Finals.  The boys earned a spot in this 6 team tournament by winning the Regional Silver Stick three weeks earlier in Alvinston.

The boys opened up the weekend with two wins on Friday vs. Montogomery Ice Devils (USA) and Ennismore Eagles.  Both games were full of back and forth action and ended in 3-2 and 4-3 wins for the JETS.  The boys carried this momentum into Saturday morning vs. the host Lambton Shores Predators.  The JETS found themselves down 2-1 with 2 minutes left in the third period.  A loss to the host was not in the cards for the boys as they came back with two quick goals to win the game 3-2 which improved the boys record to 3-0 and guaranteeing a spot to play on Sunday.

The afternoon matchup was a great one.  The East Elgin Attack were also 3-0 and both the JETS and Attack were playing for a bye to the final on Sunday.  Some great hockey played by two evenly matched teams!  The Attack edged out our JETS 3-2 in a thriller of a game.

This set up for a semi final between the JETS and the host Lambton Shores.  These two teams have played numerous times this season and the games are always close, this one didn’t disappoint.  Both teams were deadlocked at 0-0 until midway through the third when the JETS went up 1-0 and later added an empty netter to win 2-0 and advance to the final vs. East Elgin at 12:30pm.

The boys went into the weekend with one thing on their mind, and that was to win the International Silver Stick.  The boys battled, fought through injuries and sicknesses and are proud to be crowned International Silver Stick U11B Champions with a 3-2 win over East Elgin Attack in the final.

Congratulations boys on a great weekend!

GO JETS GO!
