This past weekend our Ilderton Jets U11B team travelled to East Lambton to compete in the annual Silver Stick Tournament.
The Jets opened the tournament with a big 2-0 win over rivals Lambton Shores Predators. Marshall Ward and Liam Wall tallied for the Jets!
Game two of the round robin had the Jets to play the Mooretown Jr. Flags. After a sluggish first two periods, the boys fell behind 2-0 and looking for ways to get back into the game. A big third period with goals from Hutson Warren, Jack McCallum, Liam Wall and Marshall Ward secured a 4-2 come from behind win!
Quarter Final game had us matched up against Lambton Shores. After a back and forth game Hutson Warren broke the goose egg and put the Jets up 1-0. Outstanding play both ways and superb goaltending by Liam Dixon put us into a semi final game vs. Petrolia Oilers Saturday morning.
The boys all showed up extremely focussed on the task at hand, and that was to earn a spot in the Silver Stick final Saturday afternoon.
Jet’s defeated Petrolia 5-0 with goals from Jack McCallum, Cruz Wood, Marshall Ward (2) and Hutson Warren with a third shutout of the tournament for goaltender Liam Dixon!
This earned the boys a spot in the Silver Stick final against Paris Wolfpack.
Liam Wall opened the scoring putting the Jets up 1-0. Paris tied it up mid way through the first period. After an intense back and forth, high energy battle, Laim Wall scored midway through the third period to give the Jets a 4-3 lead which they held onto and were crowned Silver Stick Champs!
Congratulations to all the boys! Special shoutout to Liam Wall who was named MVP of the Tournament – well done Wallzy!
With this win, the boys now qualified for the International Silver Stick Finals in Forest, Ontario in January.
