Development Ice and Tryout Ice
Development Ice and Evaluation Ice (Dates/Times are posted on AVHA Website).
No fee for Development Ice (reserved for NMMH, IMH and LMH players from previous seasons).
Players are to wear all equipment with their own jersey/socks.
Evaluation Ice there is a $75 fee. This one-time fee covers players trying out for U9MD1 as well as
U9MD2. U8 players trying out for U9MD1, if they choose to do so, and U8MD.
For evaluations only, players are required to wear an AVH Tryout jersey for identification on the ice.
* No seasonal registration fee has been determined/set at this time (additional information will be
updated during week of evaluations)
Player Development Structure
• U9MD1 and U9MD2 – Transition to full-ice play beginning in November.
• U9MD1 and U9MD2 may participate in full-ice exhibition games and tournaments beginning
October 1, in accordance with OMHA and AVHA guidelines.
• U9LL – Full-ice transition moved from January to December.
• U8MD – Half-ice format for the entire season.
Roster Sizes
• U9MD1 and U9MD2 – 13–15 skaters and 1–2 goalies.
• U8MD – 18 total players (ideal for half-ice game play and development).
Practice and Game Ice
• It has not yet been determined whether practice ice will be shared.
• Practice locations may or may not be the same as game locations.
• More information will be communicated once ice allocations are finalized.
Games and League Play
• Shamrock has not yet confirmed which team centres will be offering programs at this time.
• Additional details regarding league structure and opponents will be shared once finalized.
Player Development Opportunities
• Teams may provide additional development opportunities such as extra ice sessions or external
instructors.
• These may occur during AVH-allocated ice or additional ice secured independently by teams.
Player Eligibility
• All U9-age players are eligible to try out for U9MD1.
• U8 players are only eligible to move to U9MD1 if granted Exceptional Status through an evaluation
process in accordance with AVHA bylaws and applicable Hockey Canada (HC), OHF, and OMHA
policies.
• All U8 and U7 players are eligible for the U8MD roster and follow the same development criteria
regarding player movement within the program.
Player Numbers
• Combined player numbers from AVHA, IMH, LMH, and NMMH exceed 130 eligible players across
U9 and U8.
• With three AVH teams, the three home centres are expected to have strong participation numbers
and healthy team formation at the U9LL level in the upcoming season.
If your player is not successful in securing a spot with U9MD1, U9MD2 or U8MD, you should refer
back to your local centre for information on registration for the 2026-27 season.
